This piece was created after visiting the Leigh Bowery exhibition at Tate Modern—an unforgettable experience made even richer by a generous and insightful tour with a lovely curator. The boldness, theatricality, and radical self-expression of Bowery’s work seeped into my subconscious and spilled out the next morning in this vibrant, gestural print.
Part of my Morning Pages series—my own visual take on Julia Cameron’s creative tool—this monoprint captures a fleeting, intuitive moment on paper. I paint directly onto a gel plate with acrylics, then transfer the image in a single pressed onto handmade Khadi cotton rag paper. The process allows for spontaneity and unpredictability, resulting in a completely unique work that cannot be replicated.
Each piece in the series is a visual diary entry—unfiltered, emotional, and honest. Morning Pages: Leigh is both a tribute and a response.
