The first painting in the series, My Home II, began with a quiet coincidence. I was in the studio working on my latest limited edition print, My Home, which features a small blue snail — a symbol of protection, carrying one’s world, and a sense of belonging. When I returned home that evening, I found my son Leon with a new friend: a snail he’d brought home and photographed in a self-portrait. It felt like one of those charged moments of synchronicity — not the first time it’s happened between us.
It made me think again about the unseen connections we carry. How during pregnancy, fragments of our children’s DNA remain inside us — sometimes for decades. A kind of quiet, invisible imprint. The science calls it fetal microchimerism, but I think of it as a lasting echo. These paintings come from that space.
