My Home captures the layered emotions of displacement and comfort — a portrait of a home carried within, even when everything outside is unfamiliar.”
*fun fact as I was working on the print and came back home, my boy befriended a pet snail and took some photos of them.
This print speaks to the idea of home as something we build inside ourselves — shaped by culture, memory, and the people who make us feel like we belong. It’s both a love letter to where I’ve come from, and a quiet acknowledgement of the homes we make along the way. “An artist friend once shared with me the Taiwanese term ‘snails without shells’—a metaphor for renters and those without permanent homes. This concept resonated deeply, reminding me that home is not just about ownership, but about the sense of security and identity we carry within ourselves. It’s a little paean to Brighton, a place that has become my sanctuary—where the sea breeze and vibrant community make me feel truly at home. It’s here that I’ve learned the profound truth that home isn’t just a physical space, but a feeling of belonging and peace.
